Rare Venus Transit today

Venus is making a  rare transit in front of Sun on 5/6 June. The next time this transit occurs will be in 2117. Today is the only time to observe and experience this transit this century.

Venus is the most important planet of  2012.  Both Saturn and Jupiter will be in the sign of Venus in the later half of 2012 and from 15 May to end of July Venus Jupiter will be together with Ketu.

Venus  retrogrades from 15 May to 26 June, it is powerful and strong – during this retrograde instead of going behind the Sun – it will dominate the Sun by coming across the face on 5/6 June 2012.  This is part of a twin transit, the other occurred in 2004.

Nasa writes – The transit or passage of a planet across the face of the Sun is a relatively rare occurrence. As seen from Earth, only transits of Mercury and Venus are possible. On average, there are 13 transits of Mercury each century. In contrast, transits of Venus occur in pairs with more than a century separating each pair.

The last Venus transit was on 8 June 2004 ,  the second event of the pair will occur on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 (Tuesday, June 5 from the Western Hemisphere). Next Venus transit will be in again in pairs is in 2117 and 2125

The transit begins at on 5 June at 22:09 UT on 5 June and ends at 4:49 UT on 6 June. Its impact will be the greatest at 1:29UT.

It is visible For Northern Hemisphere locations above latitude ~67° north, all of the transit is visible regardless of the longitude. Northern Canada and all of Alaska will also see the entire event. Residents of Iceland are in a unique wedge-shaped part of the path. Others where there is no sunlight can watch it on the web.

It is possible to see the transit – but please use all the care and solar filters so as not to damage the eyes. A properly fitted telescope or binoculars will give a better view.

2012 –  Remember that the transit is like an omen for change and for recognition of essential truths. Venus is with Ketu and Sun and more spiritual than its 2004 counterpart. I think it will make us think of our role in society, consumerism and move towards rejecting the ideals of greed and egotistic behaviour. There will be a desire of simpler life. It can bring a financial scandal to life. Financial markets usually do very well when Venus is strong so expect the stock markets to go higher. Venus is dominating the Sun therefore governments all over will need to listen to the voice of their gurus and advisers. Women can play a strong role too.  The conjunction takes place in Rohini nakshatra-  the essence of Rohini is that their inner core is full of emotions, romanticism and love while being extremely idealistic. So this may unleash romantic ideals, creativity. Ketu impact can make these ideals unrealistic and sometime more in the mind than people actually doing something about it.

2004 and 2012 – Two rare events that took place around the Venus transit – though not on the day of the transit itself –  were the launch of Google (9.30am on 8 Aug 2004 EDT, New York ) and Facebook (11.05am 2012EDT, New York ) on NASDAQ and both these giant and innovative companies become public entities.

Facebook was officially formed on 4 Feb 2004.  Facebook has a strong connection to the revelation of Venus and these rare transits as it links to both 2004 and 2012. Therefore those who say that the Facebook phenomenon is short lived  are incorrect. New ideas may take over but Facebook will stand as a cultural icon and for changing the way we interact for a long time.

On a personal level – Taurus will experience the most benefit as something rare and wonderful is revealed about them. They may not fully understand immediately what this is. May 5 – Mercury in Gandanta – Disturbed yet ready for Action

Mercury’s Long Debilitation ends on 5 May 2012

Mercury ends its long debilitation ends on 5th May at 15:36 GMT and it crosses over Gandanta point from 03:39 GMT on 5 May to 03:40 GMT on 6 May.

Gandanta happen when planets transit over certain junction points. In this case Mercury will move from Pisces to Aries. more on Gandanta

May 5 is a day of insecurity and uncertainity. Communications can be troubled or confused. One can feel uncertain and unsure so best not to do any major projects today or make important decisions. The moment Mercury moves into Aries it will be dynamic and positive- rearing to go and take action. Gemini will specially benefit while Virgo still needs to wait till the papakartari is finally over on 16 May.

May 5 is the rest day before the second ballot of the French elections and therefore it can make for a confused electorate. But by 6th May morning Mercury will be established in Aries, therefore being decisive and positive about what they want now. This  Mercury changeover is the only glimmer for the embattled Sarkozy.

Nicolas Sarkozy the  President of France and his poor showing in the French Presidential elections and David Cameron, the UK Prime minister and his Political problems with Double dip recession of  UK and Murdoch revealations to name a few –  both share an astrological connection.They have Virgo Lagna

Virgo as you may recall from my earlier blog, is in a fix and creating all kinds of stress specially those who have Virgo ascendant. I wrote in January 2012 ‘The sign Virgo is being blocked by Saturn in Libra and Mars is Leo. This is known as a Papakartari Yoga – the malefic energy is creating pressure on Virgo. This  began as soon as Saturn went into Libra on 15 november 2011 and Mars is having a long stay in Leo. Saturn retrogrades back into Virgo on 15 May 2012 and releases the pressures on Virgo. To add to the Virgo woes Mercury its ruling planet has had a long debilitation and will continue to do so till 5 May 2012. Mercury will go past Gandanta position of Pisces Aries on 5th May too. Plus UK 1801 chart ( one most used by Astrologers)  also has Virgo Lagna.

Nicolas Sarkozy has Virgo Lagna and at present is in Moon Saturn Dasha. The main problem for Sarkozy is that his lagna is being squeezed by Saturn and Mars till 15 May and therefore he is facing a insurmountable problems- he cannot move forward or backward. Then his lagna lord Mercury is debilitated by transit and more worryingly for him it will be gandanta on the 5th May, the day before the second round of the election when it changes signs to Aries.  Mercury in Pisces does not make for rational thinking – by the electorate or by the choices made by the politicians. Nicolas Sarkozy can make judgement mistakes as it is his Lagna lord which is debilitated.

Mercury in Aries from 5 May can bring a last minute boost  as it gives new momentum- but which candidate does it boost?. Nicolas Sarkozy or Francois Hollande. The public may be looking for new alternatives. Even though Lagna Lord has moved on- Virgo continues in the papakartari and challenging Nicolas Sarkozy. It is tough for him to win but as I do not know Francois Hollande’s chart, it is difficult to make an informed judgement.

Another virgo Lagna who is going through rough times. His government is daily facing negative situations and it appears his Prime Minister-ship is one of wrong judgments. The papakartari on his Lagna and the debilitation of the lagna lord is adding to his problems too. As this papakartari has been going on since November –  each month has brought more bad news for him. The Levenson Inquiry into Newspapers ethics and the unholy alliance between the Murdochs and him is the latest test his government faces plus UK has gone into a double dip recession today. UK itself has Virgo Lagna- so the country and its leader are both ties together in this challenging situation.

Fortunately for David Cameron, he is not up for re-election as yet but watch for more negative news till the papakartari ends on 15 May. It will be a relief to have Saturn back in Virgo for him. Some damage is already done and may never be fixed. His Dasha is Venus Mercury – Venus is debilitated in the lagna so his reputation suffers and Mercury is the lord of Venus and therefore highlighting the debilitation. Dramatic Week Starring Sun, Mars, Saturn, Venus and Ketu

Week beginning from 11th April is full of Drama. It opens with a Venus Ketu conjunction in Taurus on 11th – followed by Mars turning direct on 14th  in Leo while Sun Saturn are both exalted and in opposition from 13th to 15th April .

A strong Venus is always good for financial markets and Ketu is not – their togetherness right up to the conjunction on 11 April puts extra stress on them – this is creating the uncertainty and  a downward trend. The markets should start a recovery as soon as the  Venus Ketu  conjunction is over. There are many other factors adding to the problem as Mars has slowed down to turn direct and Sun Saturn opposition both have spooked the investors.

On a personal level Taurus and Libra can feel the presence of Ketu – it can make them feel very unsettled for a few days. Best not to make important decisions.

Sun Saturn opposition begins at 3:50pm GMT on 13 April and will be exact on 15 April. Although Sun and Saturn oppose each other annually, the difference this year is that both are exalted and vargotamma.  Exalted Sun and Saturn face each other every 29 years or so – but when they are both vargotamma too is even rarer. Two powerful forces opposing each other. A struggles between those in power and those who oppose it.  This can bring problems to governments and generally powerful people.

Leo, Capricorn and Aquarius will feel this the most. Divergent issues pulling them in opposite direction. For Aquarius and Leo – it could result in stand off between partners or spouses. It is best not to resolve what is pulling you apart at this time and both of you are strong and not open to compromise as yet, so wait till the transit is passed and then there may be a solution.

Mars goes direct on 14 April at 05:48 GMT. This will release energy to make us take action. Whenever planets go direct they always bring some pressure with them. If you get involved in the retrograde – it can give travel, mechanical problems – but sometime it can also give anger, aggression. Take it easy on the day – don’t take on more that you can.

Venus is making a long and rare transit in Taurus from 28 March to 30 July 2012. In this time it will retrograde , move across the face of the Sun, conjoin Ketu and Jupiter. Venus goes into Taurus on 28 March where it will conjoin Ketu on 11 April and then move in front of Sun on 4/5 June , continue in Taurus till 30 July 2012. Venus is own sign yet being influenced by Ketu- therefore there has to an unusual factor to this.

The sad life of Whitney Houston came to end on 11 Feb 2012. She leaves behind a huge legacy of fabulous music and a few films. Often those who shine the brightest also burn out quickly. She died with Moon, Ketu and Rahu Dasha. Moon is in the 2nd house which is Maraka. Ketu and Rahu both can bring untimely death.  Whitney’s 8th lord which deals with span of life is Mercury and Moon was in Revati Nakshatra which is ruled by Mercury and Mercury itself is placed in another Maraka ( death giving house) and is hemmed in by Saturn and Mars.

Generally Aquarius Lagna suffer from Heart disease and Rahu can also bring it. Another name for Kumbha is known as Hridya Roga or heart disease and they have to be very careful. The Bhukti and Prayanatara rulers Ketu and Rahu can bring issues with drugs too. She died on  krishna panchami – waning Moon 5th tithi, therefore her memory should be celebrated on  krishna panchami of every month and annually during Shraddha panchami.

The Legacy of the departing soul is studied from their death chart. This is known as the Punya chart. Punya means good deeds and the chart of the time of death shows what good deed she have done in this life.

Saturn turns Retrograde – stalling, blocking and frustrating

Saturn turns retrograde on 7th Feb 2012 at 5:28am PST (8:28am EST and 1:28pm GMT) at 5 Libra 28.

Saturn is a major planet and it takes a long time to turn retrograde. It slows down almost to a stationary position and then goes retrograde. And even in its retrograde motion it takes a long time to start moving. Therefore the period of retrogression has to take into account the stationary time as well. Saturn will remain at approximately 5 degrees Libra for most of February.   When Saturn begins to turn retrograde – it appears certain aspects of our life grind to a halt so it will test our patience. in trying to push ahead or force the issue, Saturn will take his own time. Although Saturn turns retrograde on 7th, the whole month can be affected by its inaction and stationary nature. If you have Moon or other planets at 5 Libra 28, then this can be a very trying time and February is challenging for you, even though other planetary signatures are good.

Saturn is at 5 degrees Libra and is stationary  and any planets directly under this degree will be affected as Saturn puts his might and depressing power over them. I personally find a Stationary Saturn grinds life to a halt and many things just do not get done while we remain anxious  trying to complete them. It can lead to frustration, anxiety and Saturn brings a slow burning anger against injustice.  It is good to be philosophical during these times however challenging it is as it is part of the learning experience.

When planets are retrograde, they are closest to the earth, so we feel their impact more directly and intensely. They shift their quality and influence thinking adversely. It can encourage us to make choices that we were not considering before and may not consider at a later date when Saturn has gone direct . Not a good time to make choices as there is not enough clarity. Waiting and taking time is the best option.

Capricorn and Aquarius will feel its impact the most as it is their ruling planet that is going through this motion. They have to be careful that they are not giving into the frustration and they can feel very angry at times – feeling the world is working against them. They should not allow the fog of anger to cloud their otherwise calm and reasoned thinking.

Libra Ascendant, Sun and Moon are feeling the transit – it can be sudden blocks or feeling the wrath of others. Saturn is going to be there for another two years and therefore it is good to learn to cope. The stationing aspect feels heaving, stronger and more burdensome than the normal Saturn transit.

As slowly Saturn starts to move backwards – it will release us from the pressures and allow life to move till the point it is ready to go forward on 24 June 2012 at 28 Virgo 43. Similar slowing down of life will occur around that time ( More in June).

It is important to remember that Saturn turns retrograde every year and therefore it is regular phenomenon,and part of the rich diversity of the planetary experiences annually. We must understand them and work with the cosmic process. We do feel these transits and if we think that our options are limited when the transits are tough – it helps deal with them and maybe react positively.

February 2012 – Patience and Prosperity

February continues in a positive vein. There are a few hiccups on the way- Saturn’s station will test our patience – Venus, Jupiter and Mars are strong, Adhi yoga brings relief for the papakartari stressed Virgo.

Venus exalted – Wealth, Happiness, and Purity

Venus will be exalted in Pisces from 3  to 28 Feb 2012. Generally the strength of Venus brings the feel good factor and makes us happier. It seems like a burden has lifted from our shoulders.

Venus is the starring planet in 2012 and therefore I am giving it more attention. Venus’s journey around the zodiac takes one year and annually it becomes exalted around February and March. Venus is the planet of purity and in Pisces, it is very pristine and creating a higher vibration. Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac and Venus transiting through it makes us ready to take positive steps towards our higher selves. It helps materially too by making personal conditions better – by giving inner peace and protecting us from the harshness of life – this way we can focus on the inner self .
